The Suffragette’s Murder

World Premiere at Denver Center for the Performing Arts

By Sandy Rustin

Directed by Margot Bordelon

On the morning of July 5, 1857, an eclectic group of tenants bustle about their Manhattan boarding house, arranging the final details of a clever scheme they hope to pull off in the name of the budding women’s suffrage movement. As they prepare to host an important secret gathering, they receive an unexpected visit from a constable. One of the tenants has been murdered.

The odd bunch must then band together in an elaborate ruse to throw the constable off their scent. His investigation, however, reveals much more than murder motives and rabble-rousing. It becomes an examination of early American suffrage movements, the struggle to define “a woman’s place,” and the political systems that have historically sought to snuff out feminist voices.

The Suffragette’s Murder, a farcical who-done-it by Sandy Rustin (Clue, Broadway’s The Cottage) and a runaway audience favorite at the 2023 Colorado New Play Summit, makes its highly anticipated world premiere at the Denver Center in winter 2025!

Annie Abramczyk originated the role of Miss Mabel Adams.

Annie Abramczyk as Mabel Adams, is perhaps the breakout star of the play. Her charisma rivals that of Wiley. Abramczyk breaks through the stereotypes of a young Southern ingenue and delivers a highly comical, grounded, performance. Truly, she had me at ‘liable.’” - Broadway World

“Each of the actors has impeccable comedic timing, including nailing slapstick… Annie Abramczyk (as Mabel Adams) is enjoyable as the over-the-top clairvoyant.” - OnStage Colorado

“Mabel (Annie Abramczyk) wholeheartedly takes to her clairvoyant role.” - Denver Post

falcon girls

World Premiere at Yale Repertory Theatre

By Hilary Bettis

Directed by May Adrales

This is a true story. It’s the 90s in rural Falcon, Colorado. Six teenage girls on the FFA horse judging team are determined to make it to nationals come hell or high water. But to do that, they must grapple with jealousy, rivalries, sex, Jesus, AOL chat rooms, impossible expectations, and rumors of a serial killer. Hilary Bettis’s falcon girls is an achingly funny and brutally honest coming of age memoir–and a love letter to the girls she grew up with and the horses who saved their lives.

Development and production support for falcon girls is provided by Yale’s Binger Center for New Theatre and is a recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award.

Annie Abramczyk originated the role of Rebecca Brooks.

“The classroom stuff is all zippy and overwrought as only young teens can be, and the cast is uniformly excellent at bringing the earnest tones of these girls’ voices to life… Rebecca (Annie Abramczyk), whose demanding mom is all about winning no matter what.” - New Haven Review

“Annie Abramczyk’s Rebecca has been indoctrinated to believe, courtesy of her mom, that winning at all costs is the prize.” - Connecticut Critics Circle
